about

Originally hailing from Winchester in the UK, now living in Paris, by way of Bristol, Kate Stables aka This Is The Kit was discovered whilst on tour supporting the likes of The National, Elysian Fields, Jose Gonzales and Jeffrey Lewis. Playing everything from the banjo to the trumpet, Kate was too unique to be ignored, and soon found herself playing live sessions with Radio One, BBC 6music and Resonance FM as well as touring widely across the UK, Europe, and Japan. Since then, This Is The Kit has gained fans from all over the UK, BBC Radio One’s Huw Stephens has called Kate one of the ‘rising female stars’ of the modern folk movement, and her Two Wooden Spoons single, taken from last album Krulle Bol (produced by PJ Harvey collaborator John Parish), was released on Rob Da Bank’s label Sunday Best. Late 2010 saw the release of This Is The Kit’s second album, “Wriggle Out The Restless”, from which the original version of “Earthquake” is taken. Going from strength to strength since the release of the second album, This Is the Kit has recorded further BBC 6music sessions for Cerys Matthews and Marc Riley and toured extensively whipping up a storm at Eurosonic, Glastonbury and South by South West along the way. The “Wriggle Out The Restless” remix album was released in May 2011, and the “Earthquake” single comes packaged with 3 remixes; the Fear of Theydon mix taken from the remix album, and two that are exclusive to this release, The Buddy Peace Faulty Lines remix and the Plaisir De France remix. Fans of Need No Water releases will be familiar with Julien Plaisir De France, as
his remix of Catriona Irving’s “Sitting On The Shelf” has racked up over 38,000 plays on Official fm. Here he supplies us with the Plaisir De Remix of Earthquake in his signature French Indie-Disco style.

lyrics

earthquake
no body saw
nobody followed

unbeknown and never showed
how when alone oh how we glowed

never saw us at our best
two hot hearts a drinking in our chests

but too early and too late
too clumsy and too kate
too earthquake
hidden handshake
